A fantastic job opportunity has arisen for a Refurbishment Qualification Engineer – Lead to join one of the UK’s largest high-technology research and development facilities.

As Refurbishment Qualification Engineer you will be responsible for managing the Warhead Modification Qualification Programme from conception through to completion.

This will involve managing a team of competent engineers performing warhead modification trials.

In particular, you will be responsible for generating a Qualification Plan for warhead modification that meets technical and programmatic requirements.

You will also provide support to the Design Managers and Product Realisation Teams on all matters regarding the interpretation of environmental requirements and ensure understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the company’s environment, health, safety, security and quality standards. This will include specification of test plans, test levels, recommending appropriate instrumentation for data gathering and evaluation of resulting shock and vibration spectra.

You will also be the company’s representation with external agencies on all matters regarding environmental test specification and evaluation.

Qualified to HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline, you will have an expert understanding of trials activities and environmental testing as well as environmental requirements, test specifications and data evaluation techniques.

You will also have a good understanding of the requirements governing the acceptance of nuclear warheads and of the design attributes of nuclear warheads and sub-systems.

Finally, you will have a basic understanding of analysis techniques available to support qualification, assessments methodology, warhead business processes and planning and estimating methodology.

You must have experience of trials and qualification programmes and related activities, the interpretation, specification and evaluation of environmental requirements and data and personnel / team management.
Experience of evaluating requirements and specifying activities to prove the design
Programme management would be desirable.

This role will involve significant overseas travel.
